Dear GM asrTrust members,
You should have received a letter in the mail from asrTrust about a select number of targeted changes to your benefits plan, effective January 1, 2027.
These focused changes will help manage rising costs responsibly and keep the plan strong for the years ahead. The asrTrust Board of Trustees made these decisions independently of the recent negotiations between active GM workers and Unifor. As an independent body, the Board is responsible for acting in the best interests of plan members by ensuring the plan provides fair value throughout members’ lives and remains sustainable for the lifetime of all members.
Even with these targeted changes, the GM Retiree Benefits plan continues to be an extremely strong and valuable retiree benefits plan.
