For Example:
Mona had a vision exam with her optometrist on February 12, 2023, and wanted to have another vision exam in April of 2024. She submitted this claim from her appointment on February 12, 2023:
Mona reached the vision maximum after her appointment on February 12, 2023. She then had three choices:
- Schedule the vision exam in April of 2024 and pay out of pocket; OR
- Schedule the vision exam in April of 2024 and use her Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) to help cover her cost—in full or in part; OR
- Wait until her coverage maximum refreshes on February 13, 2025, to schedule her next vision exam.
Choose your vision practitioner with care and take your time — it is an important decision!
Choosing the right vision practitioner for you is an important and personal decision, so ask questions, including how their fees compare to other vision practitioners.
Ask for a vision exam quote from different opticians, optometrists, or ophthalmologists. This will help you find the lowest cost before booking an appointment.
