Ineligible services:

Vision exams for those under age 20 or over 64 who are covered by provincial health insurance
Vision exams within 48 months of receiving laser eye surgery payment
Medical or surgical treatment
Eyeglass cases
Insurance form completion charges
Missed appointment charges

Tip!

Optical Coherence Tomography Scans (OCT Scans) are covered up to $250 per lifetime when performed by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

Your coverage maximum resets 24 months after your first vision exam.

If you reach the vision plan maximum within 24 months of your first vision exam, the full coverage amount will again be available to you once the full 24 months has passed.

For Example:

Mona had a vision exam with her optometrist on February 12, 2023, and wanted to have another vision exam in April of 2024. She submitted this claim from her appointment on February 12, 2023:

Vision exam (February 12, 2023) $140

The coverage amount left after Mona’s claim from February 12, 2023 $0

Mona reached the vision maximum after her appointment on February 12, 2023. She then had two choices:
