Your asrTrust retiree plan can then help pay what isn’t covered by your provincial program. Here’s how it works:
If You Live in Ontario
- Ontario has the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
- ADP pays up to 75% of the cost for approved items like wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, and more.
- You, or the vendor, apply to ADP first.
- After ADP pays its part, you can send the remaining receipts and ADP forms to GreenShield for your asrTrust plan to help pay the rest (up to your plan limits).
If You Live in Another Province
- Most provinces have programs that help pay for medical devices or supplies, but coverage differs.
- Always apply to your province’s program first. The asrTrust plan only pays the remaining eligible amount after provincial help.
- You will need a doctor’s prescription and your receipts.
- Once your province pays, submit your receipts and forms to GreenShield.
Examples:
- Québec: RAMQ Assistive Device Programs
- British Columbia: BC PharmaCare (covers some medical supplies)
- Alberta: Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)
- Other provinces: Check your provincial health website for your local program.

In Summary
Government programs and your asrTrust retiree plan work together to help pay for medical equipment and supplies. Using both can save you money and help you get the support you need to stay healthy and independent, no matter where you live in Canada.
